I can't imagine there's a very large number of people clamoring for a Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five reunion. They put out a few great singles and two mediocre to bad albums. The list of Hip-Hop groups I'd rather see reunite would be quite lengthy.

The Jam
Dire Straits
Roxy Music
and not necessarily because I think it'd be a good idea, it's just intriguing due to the animosity or sheer unlikeliness of them ever regrouping.
Eh I don't know what 'phallocentric' means, but NO GIRLS!

I for one would rather see a
Guardian
article on the subject. And you know how often I say that!

The time for acts such as The Smiths,
Husker Du
and Talking Heads to reform would have been in the 90's, when they could have still been a creative forceThat time has passed
I don't know that I agree with this entirely. While I agree that it's often best to just leave the past in the past, Bob Mould has had a pretty prolific solo career and is still producing great music even as recently as this year. I'm sure if he ever got back together with the other two, they'd be able to crank out something pretty special if not respectable.
Anyone here mentions Hotel California dies before the first line clears his lips.

No, that was 2004, and I saw them down in Portland at the Crystal Ballroom. Great show!! Really like that album, too.

Was that the 2008 tour? Did you see them in Seattle at Neumo's by any chance? Some friends of mine in a band called Welcome opened and almost held their own against MoB. Almost.

I saw them on the
ONoffON
tour and I agree, they were amazing. Made all the more so since they had taken a nearly twenty year hiatus at that point.

Mission of Burma pulled off the feat rather well
Mission of Burma were f_cking amazing when I saw them a few years ago, almost crapped my pants when they broke into "Youth of America".

Fugazi and REM went out exactly how they wanted to..Strong albums..No animosityand both have no love of nostalgia, so it's doubtful either would reform, unless it was to record new music
Oasis was fueled by their hatred when together, so it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility for them to come back together and not be a nostalgia act
The time for acts such as The Smiths, Husker Du and Talking Heads to reform would have been in the 90's, when they could have still been a creative forceThat time has passed(Although, Mission of Burma pulled off the feat rather well, so Husker reDU ??) All three had mega-feuds which would need to be resolved
Mr.Bungle ??? are there people clamoring for a Mr. Bungle reunion ??

At one time I'd have killed for Husker Du to reunite but that time has passed though I think they could pull it off without any problem.

Wow a link not connected to The Guardian! The Talking Heads might be fun but my take away from the list is this:
"I don't know a single person who wants a Smiths reunion!"
