Does anyone know what the German says when Mrs. Miniver slaps him? I know what he'd probably say today, but back then it was a bit different.
In that intense kitchen scene, the downed German pilot (played by Helmut Dantine) doesn't just mumble; he delivers a chilling, fanatical rant about the destruction of England.
The slap occurs after he begins shouting about the Luftwaffe's power, specifically referencing the brutal bombing of Rotterdam. He says:
"We will come. We will bomb your cities. Rotterdam we destroy in two hours. Thirty thousand in two hours. And we will do the same thing here!"
His actual German dialogue during the confrontation includes aggressive assertions that the Third Reich will mercilessly overcome its enemies.
The scene was intentionally reshot in early 1942—after the attack on Pearl Harbor—to make the pilot more villainous and "Aryan" in his rhetoric. Earlier versions of the script were softer, but the final version used his "unspeakably rude" and threatening speech to justify Mrs. Miniver’s physical reaction, showing that even a gentle housewife could be pushed to fight back.
Thanks for your lengthy AI summary, which doesn't answer the OP's question.
That question was already answered back then.
What I heard the German say immediately before Mrs. Miniver slaps him is
"Wir werden euch vernichten alle!"
Which means
"We will destroy all of you!"

I think it might have been "choice". I remember that I watched MM with my Gran, and asked her. I knew that the family was Bi-Lingual, but all the youngsters were born in America. The only thing that Gran said was a very crisp, "You don't want to know!" It might have been a bitter memory left over from the First War. Who knows? I did learn one small phrase from her, which I don't even know how to spell.she said it was "the only German I needed to know": The Phrase for "I LOVE YOU".
As I said, she never told me, and I never asked. Sorry for the OT.
"I do hope he won't upset Henry.."

Sorry, couldn't resist. I don't remember what he said.
