<p dir="auto">I like Leslie Banks as Zaroff very much, have discussed this issue many times on other boards. Lugosi was I believe briefly in the running for Zaroff but I think he'd have been wrong, would have turned<br />

into a Bela Lugosi vehicle. Banks dominates his scenes but not the film. With Lugosi in the lead most viewers would be waiting for Bela's "introduction". I'm not knocking Lugosi's talent, but his hamminess could overwhelm a film, and<br />

needed a cast that would serve the material. It works perfectly as it is in my opinion. No one player dominates. When the movie's over one remembers it as a whole.</p>
