<p dir="auto">Watching "Female" right now on TCM.  In addition to Shanghai Lil (how great is that?), Pettigrew sings "You're Getting to be a Habit With Me,"  which was featured in "42nd Street." And I think notes here also refer to "By a Waterfall."  There's mention of a character seeing James Cagney in "Picture Snatcher."  Of course, Cagney performed Shanghai Lil with Ruby Keeler in "Footlight Parade." I don't know if these are meant as sly in-jokes, homage to Busby Berkeley, or whatbut ain't it fun?!?</p>
