spoilers
Fake vampires? That was so incredibly disappointing. It had so much potential, with Bela Lugosi donning the cape once more and his daughter being a great vampire character as well. It was just dumb that it all turned out to be a ploy to solve a murder.
A movie hasn't disappointed me this much in a very long time.

I was totally disappointed with the whole vampires turning into bats and back again nonsense. No folklore basis for it. But I thought Barrymore made a good vampire expert, as good as Van Helsing.
"Do All Things For God's Glory"-1 Corinthians 10:31
I try doing this with my posts

According to the TMC host, the director tried to keep it secret from the cast, when Bela learned of the ending, he begged that they remain; but, the director and studio prevailed. This was a very disappointing ending for me as well.

This is a remake of his silent classic. And watching this today, I can see subtle changes in this and his standard vampire movie. But I do understand your assessment.
If we can save humanity, we become the caretakers of the world
