<p dir="auto">I wished the film would have kept William Wyler's orginal ending (the final shot being Heathcliff dead on the moors) rather than adding the ghost sequence. It would have given the film a tone more similar to the novel imo. I always find the ghost sequence cheesy and I don't understand why so many of the subsequent WH adaptation have copied it.</p>

<p dir="auto">^ Heathcliff does not die on the moors in the book. He dies in Cathy's bedroom. Plus, the final passage of the book makes it clear that there are no ghosts. The dead are gone and at peace.</p>
