Not all oil is treated equally. The US, Venezuela, and the middle east all produce different quality of oil. US refineries were designed to run best on the mix we get from middle eastern countries. Plus oil is a global market. Even if we could get everything we needed locally, a shortage in Europe can still jack up the oil prices everywhere else. US companies wouldn't sell locally at a discount out of some kind of patriotic duty.

Are we getting any oil shipped through the Strait of Hormuz?

before the iran quagvasion, all that venezuaelan oil did NOT lower the price for a gallon of gas in USA. our domestic markets were already at full capacity.
therefore we dont need any Iranian oil.
europe needs it. and asia needs it. and africa needs it.
our two primary sources for imported oil were canada and mexico. since pedo protector Trump managed to alienate both way before these oil wars of his, i dont know if we still import from them?
