<p dir="auto">In the Graham Greene story upon which this movie is based, Raven's deformity was that he was a "harelip." Naturally, as this movie was Alan Ladd's big star-making vehicle, they had to come up with some physical disfigurement whereby he could still retain his good-looks. Thus, the deformed wrist.<br />

Alan Ladd was 5'6". Certainly on the short side. It wasn't too much out of the ordinary for his age when the average height was more in the 5'8-5'9" range. It's not as though he could help his genes anyway.</p>
