I do like several Hitchcock films..
Strangers on a Train, Psycho, Rear Window, Dial M for Murder, Vertigo, The Birds.
I never cared for North by Northwest and Shadow of a Doubt. NxNW is sort of amusing in a screwball comedy sorta way but Shadow of a Doubt doesn't do a thing for me. I recently rematched it to see if I was missing something. Pretty good direction from Hitchcock. The acting is fine for the most part, but the story drags quite a bit. Even in the last half hour, we do not get much of a pay off. I appreciate the idea but the script was.. well, ok at best. What an I missing with this picture?

Thank you for your reply. Perhaps I was watching it with blinders on.. I still say Hitchcock's best B&W film is Rebecca, but I may give Shadow one last shot.

That young Charlie is more like Uncle Charlie than we care to admit. That Uncle Charlie's view of the world is perhaps partly true. That fate in the guise of his traffic accident damned his future behaviour - much like many real life serial killer who have serious head injuries before killing.
