It really doesn't remind me of either of these. Their affair never is consummated. This was remade twice. In 1975 a version was filmed in Europe starring Richard Burton and Sophia Loren. In 1983 the film Falling in Love starring Robert de Niro and Meryl Streep was made, an updated version set in Manhattan. At the time there was a lot of discussion about emotional affairs vs. sexual affairs; could an emotional, platonic affair be as serious as a sexual one? Was it cheating?

IMO "Bridges" started off innocently also.In neither movie did the people start off with the idea of jumping into bed with each other as is in the case of so many recent movies.

Perhaps because of the different time period it's a natural progression, however the love in this film is far more innocent than Bridges.
