I know audience sensibilities were different in 1946, but I can't imagine there were many guffaws over that scene. Maybe Felix Adler was scraping the bottom of his comedic barrel. I also get a queasy feeling seeing the Stooges as pawnbrokers, playing into Jewish stereotypes. The short falls even flatter because of Curly's impaired delivery.
