why did Harry invite Holly to Austria, and pay for his fare, but then "kill" himself and leave Holly high and dry?
Or were the occupational police suddenly closing in on his operations, and Harry had no choice in the timing? It's just, I was waiting for Holly to front Harry about it I'd be annoyed! and I didn't see it happen.
(Be patient with me; I've only just seen it for the first time, and there were a couple of disruptions in my house.)
Was Harry planning to con Holly and use him as a stooge?
You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

When Lime and Martins meet at the ferris wheel, Lime offers to bring him in to the operation because "there's nobody left in Vienna I can really trust, and we've always done everything together". I think this was Lime's intention all along, and that faking his death really had nothing to do with Martins.

I think Harry faking his death happened quite suddenly and wasn't planned out far in advance.
