I know it would not happen todayand I guess should not..But, I do have to say Jeffrey Chandler not only played a very credible Indian Leader but 1 if I were a Native American, I feel would be a fine representative of my people and times..I have reflected on another board recently who is the best Native American Actor in film history..but there have been times where a non-native offered a great portrayal of another race..In this filmand I believe Lancaster as a Mexican Lawman in Valdez is Coming is yet another..and other examples I am sure could be offered

Eli Wallach as a Mexican bandit in both The Magnificent Seven and The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly is another example. Wallach said, John Sturges changed me from a Jewish actor from New York to a Mexican Bandito for life.
