I am presenting this for your information. This is one movie that I didn't care for but others really liked it. I thought the performances of Ethel Waters and Brandon De Wilde (who played someone close to his age) were great but I thought that Julie Harris at about 27 was too old to play someone age 12 and that was a distraction to me even though she was nominated by her peers for an oscar. She was a great actress and had many great roles but to me this was not one right for her at that age (27).
A 12 year old Tatum O'Neal or Kristy McNicol would have really been great for that role.
