I have a few questions about that dress Frankie got that Berenice said didn't do. What color was it supposed to be, does anybody know? In the TV remake it was a shiny golden orange but when I see this version I always picture it as a shiny pink. Another thing I wonder is, when the top of the front of the dress fell down, exactly how did Frankie plan to keep that from happening during the wedding? And what did she have on underneath that dress? That big old white thing that looked like another dress, was that a slip or something, or what did they wear back then?

It is an orange satin evening dress in the book, not pink. The dress is also not strapless in the book. That detail I think was just added for the movie to emphasize how silly it was for a twelve-year-old girl to have chosen such a grown-up party dress. Of course, she would have needed a bust to fill out the dress! And yes, that was a slip she was wearing under it.
