Donald O'conner and Dan Daily have a fight, Donald runs away from home and reappears one year later, in the Navy and a second class Petty Officerimpossible; in one year the highest rate he could gain is striker or seaman. It takes at least three years to even qualify for second class Petty Officer. I am an ex Navy man and it took me three years to qualify, the standard amount of time. Good movie though.
Never depend on anything and you will never be disappointed.

Nohe wasn't IN the show, he came in off the street. Remember they had been looking for him all over the country. Had he been in a show, in town, they would have known
He even speaks about "having to find his own way," or something along those lines, and given the fact that his older brother was an Army Chaplain, and the war was going on, and (I think) them even mentioning it (his joining up) outright, it leaves only one conclusion to draw about his attire

I thought he could have been in costume for a show.

My father was in the Navy in WWII, and wartime ranks are faster to achieve.
My dad graduated from bootcamp as a Seaman 1st class/Petty Officer. His "class" had close to 200 men in it, and he was one of only 4 men bearing a right shoulder rating (discontinued in '49).
I'm not bringing this up to be combative in any way, just to give another perspective.
What bothers ME most about the movie is that they're showing the sons going into the military (she made references to the war), but they were doing the benefit concert at the Hippodrome BEFORE it closed.
It closed on August 16, 1939, 2 weeks before the start of the war in Europe, and over 2 years before we entered the war
BTWthanks for your service.
