This is one flic where Lancaster's "tombstone teeth" shine; I suppose it is because he is deeply tanned and he is grinning frequently for perhaps he is not only sly but he is amused by Trane's disposition. There is a lotta con in Burt but there may be some small "affection" for Ben because of qualities he lacks and perhaps he wishes he had. No matter, the ending is telling and shows that when all is said and done you don't turn your back on Joe the Narcissist !
