<p dir="auto">I think you got it right.  He gets the $100,000 and the girl.  From his comments earlier in the movie he probably goes back to Louisiana to start a new life.  Remember he wasn't just down in Mexico for himself but wanted to come back to help some people in Louisiana.  Also $100,000 was a lot of money back then.</p>
