In the VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA episode, "Mutiny", the submarine USS NEPTUNE is sunk on its shakedown cruise by a giant radioactive jellyfish. The sole survivor-Admiral Nelson (Richard Basehart)-is rescued, and prescribed cortisone for his painful jellyfish stings. Nelson resumes command of the submarine SEAVIEW to investigate the source of the radiation, but the cortisone interacts with the jellyfish venom, making him first euphoric; then manic/psychotic. When the monster reappears, Nelson's mental state endangers the SEAVIEW and its crew. Since both BTL and VTTBOTS were 20th-Century Fox productions, I sense a connection.
