I always knew that James Mason was a great actor, but he was so good in this one, he scared me to death.
Who knew how beautiful Barbara Rush was? She was pretty in Flamingo Road, but I had never seen her as a young actress. She was good too. A very strong woman sticking by her manalthough nowadays she would just be called a victim. I wish I had her strength. Sometimes I try to find it.

Jason Mason's character was completely deranged.
It reached its peak towards the end where he attempts to kill his son. A powerful scene though it was enhanced by the techniques used.
"I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not".

I'd only seen her as a older woman up to now. Gorgeous!

You should watch "The Young Philadelphians". Barbara Rush was beautiful in that movie as well.
