This movie is a classic but it is sadly underated a lot of people, nowadays have barely heard of it. It was remade in the 80s I know but I IMO this story deserves to be remade for a modern audience. It's that good.
So with that in mind if it was going to be remade who would you cast in the roles? Also keep in mind if the story that you could if you wanted do something like the Dallas reboot which was moved to modern day if it was updated to the 21st century you could see characters of different ethnicities in the parts.
For me: it'd be interesting if you had a Black family like what they did with the London stage production of Cat on A Hot Tin Roof. Will's corruption and ambition comes from the fact that he was working up through the segregation years and now in a modern integrated world that he's firmly on top he plans to keep himself there, never going back to the life he knew.
For me:
Will Varner- Kenneth Branagh or James Earl Jones.
Clara Varner- Jennifer Lawrence, Alison Williams or Kerry Washington
Ben Quick- Simon Baker, Matthew McConaughey OR if they decide to go for a younger cast Alex Pettyfer
Jody Varner- Jeremey Allen White, Michael B Jordan or Jeremy Renner
those are my ideas how about you guys what are yours
beauty
freedom
love
truth

I like the idea of a black cast.
Non-sequiturs are delicious.
