After his mom slaps him, he turns to the camera and says "Martin. He never got to talk to her." and takes off and you know the rest.
Who is "her"? I always assumed he was talking about his sister who died but it seems like she's already dead at this point and he doesn't bring it up when he sees his child self.
I've seen this episode several times so I don't think I missed anything from the plot related to this, but it's odd that he says that line but then doesn't really bring "her" up to kid Martin and it's always puzzled me. It's actually kind of a letdown that he's not talking about his sister. It would have been even more poignant and fit with the dad asking if he knows things about the future and all.

No, I think you're right. The only person I can think of offhand that Martin didn't get an opportunity to talk to (although he tried) was his mother.
The bit of dialogue you've got there is from Frank Overton, correct?

I watched it again tonight. It is one of my favorites. Now, I am not as sharp as I used to be but it sounded like he said "Martin, I have got to talk to him" It would make sense because he then runs off to find Martin. I could be wrong but that is what it sounded like to me.
