<p dir="auto">I enjoy the look of the film. Nice cinematography. Pretty buildings. The daughter with her mask is a striking visual. I like the demented calliope type score. Now, the negatives is the film is pretty slow and not all that much happens for most of it. Because of that I have to cap my grade at a 7. Worth a watch as a piece of horror genre history, but not likely to truly scare.<br />

<p dir="auto">There are some pretty horrific scenes throughout. And of course, that mask is still nightmare inducing.<br />

is more of a thriller. Though I do agree with the OP regarding the mise en scene, great use of locations and settings (particularly during Gnessier's more sinister moments) were extremely effective.<br />
I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not.</p>
