<p dir="auto">If she hit the carotid artery, and I think she did, that would have caused immediate lack (not total lack, obviously, since the carotid on the other side was not affected) of blood to the brain and she would have fainted very quickly.  She faints and then would have died without regaining consciousness.</p>
