I would like to see Lysette Anthony as landlady of t'Rovers adding some much needed class and glamour, hana
I can also see Sheraton Smith as her visiting sister who stays on for a bit, and becomes a barmaid like Natalie Horrox and her sister Debs

I was going to say the same. Corrie write so well for older sharp tongue women. Or another older man - I miss Albert Tatlock (I have a very long memory!)
Or an older couple like Stan and Hilda or Jack and Vera.
Tell you what I miss. Roy and Hayley's marriage.
I'm not even sure what I mean!
Goodnight, good luck and may your God go with you

I'd like an ascerbic, comedy-gifted, elderly woman in the Blanche/Sylvia/Ena Sharples mode.

Yes, too many characters. Some should go and others added.

Aren't there too many characters already? That's why people disappear inexplicably while they don't have a story line, then miraculously re-appear when one materialises on the horizon. I haven't seen Steve for weeks, because the baby story has vanished. Presumably he's on a very long airport run, or he's changing a barrel - either way, it's taking him a VERY long time!
