Valencia during his lifetime was a predominantly muslim city. This movie really doesnt show the interseting reality of a medieval muslim region being governed over by a Christian knight. Which would have been very intereting. Also, elcid was an opportunist and he was constantly struggling between keeping the Moroccans and the Christians off bay
