I thought Tony Curtis' performance was so much better than Adam Beach's performance in Flags of Our Fathers. I found Tony's performance to be closer to the real Ira. You can really get a feel for the anger and sorrow in Curtis' performance. There were times in Flags of Our Fathers when I found Adam Beach to be annoying and a lot of his emotions seemed forced. Tony's Ira Hayes was constructed and done a lot better in The Outsider.
