<p dir="auto">I found this quote on another board and did the forehead slap, was gobsmacked  by it, in fact.<br />
Decided to run it by the Manchurian Candidate board.<br />
Did I miss something OR did the original poster see something that wasn't there in 1962 ?<br />
The Post:<br />
What I best liked about it was the bromance between Laurence Harvey and Frank Sinatra.<br />
In fact, I think that the character played by Janet Leigh (IMHO, the weakest role in the film) was created just so viewers (and critics) would not suppose that the two men actually had a sexual relationship.<br />
The Hayes Office was losing power in 1962, but it still existed.<br />
So, whatcha thinkin' ?</p>

<p dir="auto">Actually Marco does not particularly like Shaw and the first breakthrough against the brainwashing is that he realises he does not. Shaw is not in fact likeable.<br />
SPOILER<br />
In fact, in the book it is strongly hinted that Marco at the end programmes Shaw to kill himself.<br />
"Chicken soup - with a <em>beep</em> straw."</p>
