Hopefully it will be on television again soon especially on TCM. Vincent Price is great in all three of his episodes but Peter Lorre was really outstanding in the funny one called The Black Cat.
David Frankham who is credited as Dr. James in the Valdemar segment also appears in The Black Cat segment as the bartender. My observant wife caught that one.

This was the very first Vincent Price movie I ever watched.
I was alone in a college dormitory almost 20 years ago during the Christmas holidays. It was 2:00 AM not being able to sleep, so I go to the TV room and there was a VHS copy of this movie. Alone, dark, with nobody else in the dormitory while there is a snow blizzard outside.
I bought the Vincent Price DVD set which had this and I watched it right away. I even converted it to MP4 format so I could watch it on my iPod Touch any time I want to.

I thought I had seen David Frankham earlier in this film!
This is a very entertaining collections. I love these horror anthologies, which are very concise and well executed. A lot of films today have 20 minutes of material spread out over 90. These anthologies are just the opposite.

Yes, it's a real horror classic.

The HDNet channel showed it in high def a couple of times during the week of Halloween. I'm so glad they showed this one, I really like it alot. I thought Price was excellent as always, playing three very different characters with extreme skill. Lorre kind of walks off with the movie in the middle segment, his performance is a true gem. And I thought it was a real treat to see Basil Rathbone in the third segment, his suave villainy was the high point of the third story. "Edicts, Madame?" Just great to see three old pros at work.
