<p dir="auto">Those poor radioactive kids were so eerily beautiful, in the context of the story. Kind of jarring to realize that they would all be about sixty years old now.<br />

<p dir="auto">means they are still alive and hopefully well and content in their lives today.<br />
Considering that everyone they have extended contact with either has to wear a radiation protection suit or die of radiation poisoning, probably not. The story is a tragedy. It's not meant to have any sort of happy ending for anyone.</p>
