<p dir="auto">and what a vulgar, chaotic, ugly mess it was. The acting was terrible, the plot was hardly existent, it seemed like it was trying to be an over-sexed "clockwork orange" period piece and failed miserably. They may have cut the very real cockfighting scene, because they were forced to, but they DID NOT cut the scene in which they were riding horses and kept whipping a horse until it bled. Based on the information regarding the cockfighting scene, and the hunting scene, I am very sure that horse was really whipped and actually bled. I still have nightmares about that scene and I saw the movie on videodisc in the seventies. There was nothing remarkable, poetic, or memorable other than the disarry of unlikable characters amidst a filthy time to be alive. If that is something you are interested in, I feel sorry for you.</p>
