When I was a little kid I confused the names of Herman Munster and New York Yankees catcher Thurman Munson. And I referred to Munster cheese as monster cheese.

Oh yeah, and apropos a post I've just contributed to, I also often hear people referring to coffins being carried in a "hearst"!

I suppose it's similar to the oft-skitted in the Simpsons practice of calling The Creature "a Frankenstein".

When my sister was little she used the word "Munsters" to describe all monsters.

Yes, I've heard more than one person call it "Monsters" instead of "Munsters". I've also had people called the bottled water "Canadian Clearly" instead of "Clearly Canadian". I've also heard the "doggy dog world" phrase too.
Yippee: "For king!"
Yappee: "For country!"
Yahooie: "And, most of all, for 10 an hour!"

When I was little I actually thought that was the name of ther show lol
But I'm always hearing people refer to Herman as "Herman the monster". I dont think that phrase was ever uttered in the show lol
And I've never head the "doggy dog world". haha

All
the time, unfortunately.
They're also the same people who routinely say "axe" when they mean "ask", and use "Pacifically" to mean "specifically."
They also say "doggy dog world" because they don't have the education to know that the phrase is "dog eat dog world".
All of which leads me to believe that we've lost both the battle
and
the war.
