You're supposed to be shocked and horrified by the concept of sacrificing a city, and then begin the process of reconsidering whether the whole "mutually assured destruction" concept has any merit to begin with, or if there are better versions to be considered.

What was missing from tis movie was a way for the pilots to KNOW that a mistake had occurred. I can assure yu there is a way designed to prevent this situation.
But to show that would ruin the movie i guess. Plus give away secrets.
Additionally those planes should have been shot down if they would not turn. Altho i like the movie leaving the impression we are that inept is criminal but it served the purpose 50 yrs ago.
To anyone who did not live thru the cold war, yu dont have the experience to post! This movie is for the 60s generationlater generations dont understand at all. Everyday yu think today might be the day . I am serios so no one gets to critisize this movie if you are not at least 55!
