<p dir="auto">The "first gore movie" title is generally awarded to Herschell Gordon Lewis's Blood Feast in 1963, but according to the copyright screen at the end of The Flesh Eaters it was made in 1962. And truth be told, it's much better in every aspect. So is The Flesh Eaters the actual first gore movie and did Lewis deprive it from its moment of fame?</p>

<p dir="auto">'Jigoku' is from 1960. Also 'Eyes Without a Face' is from 1959 and while not exactly a gore-film, it does have gory moments.</p>
