i distincly remember seeing this in a drive-in as a kid & getting spooked. Just saw it on AMC late night and fun to watch how ridiculous it is, especially the kooky characters, cheesy acting and utterly stupid behavior everyone displays!
(the pilot keeps letting the bad guy get his gun back)
anyway, i remember two scenes in the drive in that freaked me that were absent in the AMC version: first, when the hero get's some on his leg, the ony way to get the creatures off, the doctor had to slice the guys leg like a thanksgiving turkey - the slicing not shown on AMC. 2nd scene probably when evil doctor explaining where the bug was developed cuts aways to scene with nazi's forcing naked or implied naked women into a pool filled with the creates and pulling out a skeleton.

I'm surprised to see this question here (regarding the "Nazi" footage).
In at least one of the DVDs issued for this film, the footage you refer to is re-incorporated into the storyline. The content is pretty well as you have described it, and it is pretty obvious that it was made after the primary filmwork and has some apparently anachronistic elements. There's just enough skin to make it provocative to audiences in the 60s, but any nudity is obscured by the speed of the action.
I understand that the distributor, M.A. Ripps, commissioned the filming of this extra footage to add to the main film prior to release, with obvious exploitation motives.
Not having this footage takes absolutely nothing away from the understandability or entertainment value of the main(original) film.
ALSO One of the DVD releases includes outtakes from the "Nazi" footage and these are pretty sexy in their unedited form.
