There is no way a baby could survive going down a river like that and live to crawl out of it. Does anyone know if that was a true to life scene? I find it very unbelievable.

I think it is neat that back then she would be called a character, but now a days she would be called a liar and be discredited in the media!

She was never in such a flood. It was merely a story she told the real Molly tried to link herself up to Mark Twain and all kinds of crazy things. She was quite a character.

I did actually and there was no mention of the flood or anything like that.
Hollywood took great liberties with this story.
I believe she survived a flood but there is no mention of her being an orphan like she is in the movie.
Anyway the movie was great. I loved it and i am not a fan of 60's musicals but this one is great.

Check out Maggie Brown's bio on any number of websites. She did survive a flood in Missouri, and grew up to tell some great stories about her early life.
