I just finished watching the extended dvd of "Major Dundee" and I am a little confused about Sergeant Gomez
When the captive children were recovered didn't Major Dundee tell Sergeant Gomez and 2 others to return to the fort with the children
But he had a very active part in the rest of the movie
Also I thought that Gomez was killed after falling asleep on guard duty
Then he was in the final climatic battle scene
The movie was so long I might have missed something

Yes, Sgt Gomez and 2 others took the children back to the fort, BUT then returned, oh, maybe a couple weeks or so later.
And he did not fall asleep while on guard duty, but merely pretended to be asleep as the Apache approached. Then he also pretended to be dead - played possum - after killing the Apache who tried to kill him.
