Or at least my favourite.
I have never seen another performance with him where he has such charisma. While Charlton Heston's character is an beep that can be almost frustrating or tiring to look at- Ben Tyreen is a passionate man who has an actual code of honor. You enjoy watching him.
Richard Harris brings in my favourite performance of the film and creates one of the best characters in the Pekinpah cannon in my opinion.
Does anyone else think that every filmmaker or aspiring filmmaker should watch Major Dundee, then The Wild Bunch- just to see how Pekinpah takes the basis of really good ideas & lukewarm themes in a sociological-epic- then turns around a few years later and takes all of these bases of concepts and turns in one of the great maerican films?
Just a thought.

I think that a lot of wonderful talent was wasted in this film. I really wanted to like this movie, but I ended up turning it off after half an hour.
