Have any of you seen the new fan made Star Trek series called "Star Trek Continues"? It's a continuation of the original series after it was cancelled in 1969. It's pretty well done. It features the same characters, with different actors of course, and the same props and sets, almost an exact duplicate. Amazing. Even the incidental music is the same. And the characters act like the original characters with the same mannerisms and personalities. They've made seven episodes so far and the Star Trek fans love it so far. If you are a fan of the original Star Trek series, you will LOVE this. I've been waiting years for someone to do something like this, to come along someday and continue the original Star Trek series, which never should have been cancelled after only 3 seasons. You can watch it for free on YouTube.
Here is the episode list of all episodes so far:
I wonder where they got the money to recreate all the sets of the interior Enterprise like that. Must have cost a fortune!
Let us know what you all think.

Saw one presented to me by an undercover CHP officer, and it was poor in spite of all of the energy put into the sets, props, SFX and even music.
I'm almost of the opinion that it was intentionally done to look hokey while still maintaining a kind of action and energy that is often associated with one aspect of the show that ran in the 1960s.
What a disappointing revelation.
Fan films are typically poorly shot or lack a professionalism and gloss that those of us who worked on films and TV can readily point out. I've not seen a single fan made film that holds up anywhere.

This is the show that makes me appreciate just how good the original cast and crew were:
It's easy to take it for granted until you've sat through an amateur production like this.
I don't dance, tell jokes or wear my pants too tight, but I do know about a thousand songs.

Since Paramount put down the new regulations for fan films, I don't think there is a big chance that this will be able to continu.Same thing with Axenar and all those other projects that last longer than the 30 minutes max per project plus there is also a limit for the budget so that will have consequences as well.

As to "Turnabout Intruder", that wasn't about gender equality. It was about an angry resentful woman who had nothing to show for her life and wanted revenge on Captain Kirk so she exchanged souls with his body. She wanted to be someone big and famous. What does that have to do with gender equality? It was about personal revenge. The original series never had any female starship captains.
Which is the point, isn't it? Kirk makes an aside at the end: "If only[she had accepted her place as a woman]" This is pretty plain.

Pussy? When did Kirk ever use that word? I never recall him using that anywhere in the original series.
So you think all the episodes were good? Can't you make deeper observations than that? lol
Are there any other threads in this board about the new series? I can't find any. Why hasn't it been discussed yet? Does IMDB have a search feature for the message boards? I don't see one.

I've seen all the episodes, and none is less than "good".
As for gender equality You're forgetting "Turnabout Intruder". It might not say it outright, but it at least strongly suggests that women aren't considered fit for starship command.

Here are the next two episodes. Although these are well made, there is an obvious issue I see already in the second episode. They are already preaching gender equality and feminism and how women should not be discriminated against for their gender. The thing is, that was NEVER preached in the original Star Trek. That was not even preached at all in 1960's TV shows. Even in the 1980's, TV did not preach gender equality. It was a product of the 1990's. So it's disconcerting to see it in this Star Trek remake of the original 1960's series. Way out of line too.
The original Star Trek did preach human rights and racial equality on certain episodes, but NEVER gender equality. Kirk and Spock never supported that, yet here in this remake they do, they act like liberals from the 1990's. That's way out of character for them. I plan to write the filmmakers about this. I guess they are trying to appeal to a more modern audience. Star Trek should be about deeper philosophical issues. Not about human rights or gender equality. We have enough of that preaching from the US media. Why put it in Star Trek too?
Also, the guy playing Captain Kirk is too nice and kind to women. Kirk wasn't like that. He whipped them into shape and didn't take beep and had a more commanding and dominating presence.
