Steven McQueen later said, "I hated the experience through the making of the Sand Pebbles, I paid for my sins several times over". Steven also took one year off from doing any movies after this film production. Candice Bergen and the Director both did not gel well with Steve, and it took 7 months to complete the entire project. Great cast with Richard Attenborough Mako and the rest.

Funny, Steve would get the craziest hair cut for some roles, like the Getaway when some in Hollywood wouldn't even get a trim for military roles. He definitely got into the role ask for. Candice in this movie was pretty hot too.
