After the crew (including Jake Holman) was humiliated at the mission and escorted back to their ship by the Chinese soldiers, they were pummeled with garbage. When the crew got back to the ship, covered with filth, one sailor says to burn his uniform. That, it could never be clean enough for him to wear again and others of the crew agree. Jake, however, tells his coolie to wash his. Hadn't he been humiliated too? or, was this just another example of Jake not wanting to get along with the rest of the crew?
