She loved and respected Oak, but she wasn't desperately in love with him the way she was with Troy. Her first marriage was an ill-judged folly in which she longed for Troy and he was bored with her and longed for Fanny. The music box refers to the glamour and shallowness of her first marriage, IMO, and puts it in its place.
