A lot of things used to be done, doesn't mean it's okay.
And just because someone can beat a dog, or a horse, doesn't mean they should.
There's no excuse to abuse (like whip) a horse, just for your entertainment. It's cruel and inhumane.
I'm not going to be a part of anything that endorses it or perpetuates it, or any industry that does.

No. No excuse for cruelty to animal, nor person. I'm not a cruel person, period.

While greyhounds aren't whipped, I hear the manner in which they are trained is quite cruel too and they are also confined. Not to mention injuries they are more likely to endure and then be put down due to a lack of winning potential.

It wouldn't have been used to a tender touch and proof that it was driven beyond what would be considered appropriate care.
Humans are such hypocrites, especially with what the establishment promotes and then make selective exceptions if it surrounds the worship of the almighty dollar.
Zoos are an other issue with me. I can enjoy going to a zoo or wildlife park, but it is still confinement, no matter how well the animals are tended too.

I haven't eaten red meat in decades.
I eat fresh caught fish vs farmed.
I eat "fake meat".
Once in a great while I'll eat fowl but that doesn't last long, and I haven't touched that in a long time. Prior to eating fowl over a year ago, it had been ages before that.
The last time I touched raw red meat, I vomited.
My neighbours hunt and would give me venison for my dog, but I couldn't handle it (ie: touch it).
I refuse to eat veal because of how it's raised and brought to the table or foie gras due to the gavage (which is cruel and inhumane).
There's a farm near me that sells chicken meat and eggs and the chicken are free range (which you can see when you drive up to the farm) should I change my mind, I'd know they hadn't spent their lives in cages cooped up.
I DO eat eggs.
For what it's worth, I'm a gentle spirit and could never hurt an animal nor a child, and never lay a hand to hurt either.

Yes, I agree with this and any consequence is then wholly on the perp.
With animals, cruelty is a No No, but I don't see horse racing as anything for me to get all disheveled about when horses have been whipped throughout time as a means to control them. I don't go for it, but there are worse forms of animal cruelty to feel concerned about.
I am vegetarian and have been for 21yrs. I eat dairy and eggs. There are some questionable things that can surround this, but I really can't get too worrisome and precious about this aspect.
I buy cage free, free range or organic eggs. Milk I just get the cheapest most of the time because I don't have a lot. It has to be full cream. I find the organic milk doesn't last as long and I end up wasting a lot of it.
I saw a chef deep fry these blue crab things live once and I was mortified and fascinated at the same time, because I couldn't believe the blase and nonchalant attitude in which it was done.
I try not to judge, yet many people that do carry on about animal cruelty, would just as soon eat some animal flesh food that was cruelly prepared. I used to eat veal and was ignorant and didn't even care to know about how it was prepared.

Animals are innocent and have no idea what's going on. Men (people) take advantage of their innocence and ignorance and abuse that. There's no excuse for that.
I feel the same as when people abuse children and their innocence and trust.
They're not on equal footing.

Humans fighting each other on equal footing, adults can make their own informed choices. I can get behind that as thinking creatures informed and armed with facts. Fair is fair.

There is no absolute with this Lil. There are ALWAYS extenuating circumstances and situations.
I'm not into horse racing for the fact of the animal exploitation for profit. The animal itself can run like the wind and what it is designed to do.
Most animal flesh foods that peeps eat are cruelly raised and slaughtered. Not to mention seafood animals like lobsters and crabs placed into boiling oil and water when still alive. I can't believe people think this is acceptable.

At this phase in time there really isn't, yet in the past and withing the context of horses, it was just a part of the dynamic of living and owning horses for various reasons, even for farmers to use them to plough fields. The nature of the beast of the horse and its use for humans, has still filtered down into the sporting arena.
There are many questionable sports too that have a following for profit that don't even involve animals, only human animals.
There are also many that get on their soap box about animal cruelty and yet can be the biggest carnivores around and eat mass, cruelly produced meat products.

Horse racing is a cruel and brutal sport…They're whipped to run faster. It's inhumane. It should be outlawed.
I agree to an extent. Horses though were also used as a mode of transportation.
While designed to run, they were also whipped just to take their passengers from A to B faster, be it horseback, stagecoach, cart. It doesn't mean that their owner didn't not appreciate or respect them.
Its more about the gambling aspect associated with animal racing and how the animal is being exploited for human profit.

Yes.
"Real Sports" is a 60 Min. type of show on HBO only it is all about inside and investigative reporting on just sport topics.
One of those was horse racing which was a real eye opener.
Even though I am against all of it, it did show that America is totally cruel to the horses where in Europe they do not mistreat them.

Death hag is a term for fans of celeb deaths that I picked up off of the Find A Death website.
Started by Scott Michaels who also started the Dearly Departed Tours which takes you to famous and infamous places around H.Wood showing things related to famous ppl who died.
It is one of my favorite websites which describes the final moments of a lot of actors and actresses in the directory.

Another time he pointed out that his family members were part of the cruel "sport" of horse racing.
I dunno if you are aware of how brutal it really is for the horses.
Like there are lots, not just a few, but lots of them who get injured and lose their lives on the track each year.
They are forced to run with injuries.
The majority go to slaughter houses, even the winners, when they are retired.
I pointed out how his family was involved with this cruelty and he was in denial and defended those ****ers.
So yeah. The death hag sometimes seems OK but then turns into a real dirt eater when he gets mad where you might bring up any objections in anything he posts.
