Did anyone ever notice that in the play and this film, Felix was a writer for the television news? However, in the television series, Felix was a photographer.

Also, Felix has his last name different spelling, his ex wife different first name, changed the set, and had Oscar not having kids. All these were changed from the movie.

Responding a year-and-a-half later: but as a photog you also get out and interact with the public as opposed to an office-bound TV news writer.
"May I bone your kipper, Mademoiselle?"

Oh he can?
I've been a pro on and off for over 30 years I've come back from evening weddings
that lasted past two AM and then an hrs or more drive from Long Island etc.
You go where the business takes you, not always your own hrs

Felix's profession may have been changed for TV because being a photographer was more flexible than a TV news writer. A photog could make his own hours and interact with more people.
"We're fighting for this woman's honor, which is more than she ever did."

The rating system did not start up till later in 1968, anyway films that would've gotten PG or PG-13 these days received Gs i.e. Beneath the Planet of the Apes

Yes, it does start out pretty dark. Hard to believe this was rated G.

Yes it is a great story but its also a sad story, here's two men who are both divorced which is always a sad thing, what more Felix DID try to kill himself so in some ways this is a dark comedy.

I love "Barefoot in the Park" also, but I consider "The Odd Couple" Neil Simon's crowning achievement as well as that of the whole cast. This is the standard by which comedy writing and performing should be judged.

As a photographer myself I like the idea since some of the story lines had Felix in his studio and then that time he did the PLAYBOY models plus the midget family.
The kids had different names on the show as well.
I saw this film when I was in the army, it was always nice seeing my home town when I was stationed in the Midwest.
Another Simon I saw back then was "Barefoot in the Park"

Was Felix on leave from his job or something in the film, because other than mentioning what he does for a living, he seems pretty unemployed. And he has time to cook and clean while Oscar's at work.

Yes. Also in the movie Felix' ex is named Frances and in the tv show it is Gloria.
