In listening to the vocal theme at the film's climax (the elephant being washed, the maid -played by Miles Davis' ex-wife- dancing with the Russian, Bakshi and Nicole dancing in the suds), I felt the vocals were VERY familiar. Then it hit me: more than likely they were done by Darlene Love and her group The Blossoms, who backed practically EVERYONE who recorded in LA during the 60s (Sinatra, Elvis, The Righteous Brothers, Johnny Rivers, Duane Eddy et al). Can anyone confirm this?

According to the opening credits, the lyrics are by Don Black and the music is by Henry Mancini.
The performer is, per iMDb, The Party Latecomers (as The Party Poops). I have no idea if the performer information is accurate, but you can check the link below. It's where I found it.

I've searched all over the web. The only credit for "performer" on the song is Henry Mancini, so it was his singers and orchestra. I'll let you know if I find anything different.
