I thought they were great.

I like them because they add a sort of flavor and move the time line along.

When did you last watch the film?

At first I didn't like it.
Now I do.
It adds some fun and you can see what times were like back then and things they did plus it does make for a good transition when they show up at the train station and it shows quite a contrast between the life they just left behind for what they now face.

Hear hear. Interesting how I didn't remember them at all when I watched the film the other week. Man, they stick out likewell, like an awkward montage in an otherwise really short movie.

Yep it was kind of more like an intermission. They could have taken care of it just by saying "6 months later, in Bolivia" or however long it took.
Sometimes a movie or tv show plot is so stupid that only the stupid can understand it.

I did find it strange to have the montages go so long to be honest. I felt George Hill could have did away with some of it and added something else, but that's just my opinion.
