Apparently the version of "The House that Screamed" that is included on the Elvira set isn't anamorphic either

The widescreen Spanish DVD is NOT anamorphic, but it is uncut.

I just obtained a copy of the Elvira's Movie Macanre DVD edition of Narciso Ibanez Serrador's La Residencia aka The House That Screamed that is being released together with the Maneater of Hydra on 2 DVDs. Suprisingly, the DVD version of The House That Screamed on the Movie Macabre DVD is complete and uncut identical to the Spanish DVD version released by DIVISA a few years ago that I have and it is also in anamorphic widescreen just like the Spanish DVD release and it looks gorgeous and it is an English Language version as well! I say surprisingly because the DVD version of Maneater of Hydra on thid DVD set looks just awful. It's in pan and scan and looks badly recorded from an old VHS video print with tracking problems as well. The only thing I didn't like about the House That Screamed DVD on Movie Macabre was Elvira's unfunny jokes and comments about the film which proves that Eluira and her staff of writers didn't bother to see the film at all. At least, viewers have the option of seeing this film on the DVD without Elvita's interrumptions.

I don't think what that guy posted was accurate However! I found on amazon.com just now, that on September 25th, Elvira's Movie Macabre is releasing The House That Screamed, along with Maneater of Hydra. Yah, it's not exactly great, but I think that you'll have the option of just being able to watch the movie by itself, without Elvira's commentary. Guess we'll hafta see.

I posted this message before,and for some reason it was deleted. I'm just trying to pass on useful info,so I'll try again. La Residencia (The House that Screamed) is available at Xploitedcinema.com. Just a little FYI.

Available in Spain - great looking print, but not subtitled. In its original "scope" aspect ratio and uncut with some interesting extras.

This is a great, moody horror film and should be readily available. I liked the user comment that it was an Argento-wanna-be. Yes, Anchor Bay should snap it up. I acquired through ebay a good VHS copy of the movie and later a burned DVD. Both are more satisfactory from video and sound than the abortive pirates of another film which should be out on DVD, Argento's 4 Flies on Grey Velvet. Poor Mimsy Farmer, her two "best" films seem to have vanished: 4 Flies and The Road to Salina. John Moulder-Brown's 2 best: La Residencia and Deep End are also unavailable except through "pirates". Why? Please, Anchor Bay, do something while I still have the eyesight to re-see these movies I so enjoyed when they were theatrically released.
