IMO, Madame Forneau is the real villian of this movie, not Luis. Luis sickness is a direct result of Forneau's sexual abuse and virtual imprisonment of him.
The ending is perfect- Forneau's dictatorial methods lead to her downfall, and she suffers as she had made her son and the girls at the school to suffer.
