First off a big THANKS to all who voted in the poll and made it a big success.
We received a staggering 256 film nominations from all eras, but i've decided to limit the results to a Top 100 for now at least. I've had a very enjoyable time over the past five weeks watching all your excellent Spanish recs, i can honestly say i haven't watched a dud yet. The biggest movers in the poll were rather obviously the films of
Narciso Ibez Serrador
, whose two most famous films moved up from 44th and 49th respectively, positions that in hindsight are rather baffling. All the more surprising is that the No1 film is not available on dvd, except on the grey market, a big success story for word of mouth i think.
Jesus Franco
the grandfather of Spanish Horror was the most successful director with a whopping 10 films in the Top 100, that will please and displease in equal measures i'm sure. And if proof was ever needed that every vote counts, let me say that until the final moments of the poll, the lead film was Jorge Grau's
Let Sleeping Corpses Lie
. Amazingly enough all six of the
Pelculas para no dormir
films made the cut, especially considering many here haven't even heard of them, let alone seen them. I hope you enjoy the results and find some great recs as i have. All thoughts on the results are most welcome. Any complaints should be forwarded to Quiz winner Golgo-13.
