Hi!
I saw a photo once of Felix Aylmer in the part of Archbishop Laud - so thats one character deleted.
In the film towards the end Cromwell walks out of parliament and a soldier turns his head to look at him. That was the British character actor Victor Maddern, I guess that he also had a bigger part.
In a pub once in Brighton I spoke briefly to the actor Bryan Pringle and asked him if he was in 'Cromwell', he just said 'almost'!
There was a scene of Cromwell in Ireland, and these scenes are in the novelization of the film. Cromwell in a ruined church in Drogheda being urged to return to England because of what is happening in parliament. You can still get this book on e bay occasionally. If you buy the American version there are a nice selection of b/w photos in the book and one is of this Irish scene. Cromwell looks extremely tired and I think that the implication in the text is that he is worn out doing 'Gods work'. It explains his very aged and tired appearance when he does reappear at the end of the film to dismiss parliament.
